Become Aware of Synchronicities as Support and Guidance for Your Life

Have you ever experienced moments in your life that seem to be more than just coincidence?

Maybe the words you hear in a song are the exact message that you needed to address an issue in your life.

Or you’re looking for information on a specific topic and you meet someone at an event who is an expert in the field.

Maybe you’re thinking of an old friend you lost contact with. Then, a couple of days later, that friend calls you.

While some events in our lives seem random, other ones appear to arrive at the exact moment that we need them as a gift from the universe. Synchronicity.

The word synchronicity was coined by Carl Jung, the famous psychologist and author. He defined it as a "a meaningful coincidence of two or more events where something other than the probability of chance is involved."

When we take a closer look, we see synchronicity often includes an event that happens in the outer world that aligns with something within your internal world. It’s as if your internal thoughts are sent into the world as requests, and if they align with your highest good, the universe responds in ways to support you. This is what we experience as synchronicity.

While synchronicities can show up in any form, there are some common ways they might appear:

  1. Messages – A message is shared with you through external events. In a conversation at work, a colleague shares new information about a health issue that you’ve been researching at home. Driving home after looking at a new house for sale, the words in a song give you the courage to move. The billboard signs on your commute seem to jump out and say, “Explore the world” “Travel to new places” helping you to commit to putting money down for a trip.

  1. Opportunities – Opportunities arise at just the right time and place. A new job posting of great interest is listed at the same time you begin your job search. A cancellation opens a space for you to join a tour you recently discovered but was sold out. A friend introduces you to someone new and soon you have the new walking partner you had hoped to find.

  1. Dreams – Your dreams give you messages for your daily life. You meet a wise elder in your dream that offers advice on how to handle a difficult relative you’ll see soon. You dream about visiting a place you’ve never been and then you see photos of that place inspiring you to visit it. There you have new experiences that guide you in your life.

  1. Symbols and Images – Symbols or images appear that give you a message at the right time. An email with a job offer you’re considering has the time with your favorite numbers 3:33pm. A picture of the animal you consider to be a spirit guide is hanging on the wall in a coffee shop where you have a first date.

  2. Repetition – You see the same information in repeated forms. Your friend mentions a meditation practice that is the same as what the instructor shared in your morning exercise class. Later that week, you hear about a class that teaches it starting the following week.

Synchronicities arise in many forms in our lives, but we don’t always notice! You can become more aware and even have some fun by reviewing the day’s events. In the evening while driving home or going for a walk, consider what happened that day that seemed synchronistic. As you place more attention on these moments, you’ll experience more synchronicities in your life!

Synchronicities are a wonderful way to receive support from the universe, helping you to navigate through life’s journey and grow as a person.
