Introduction and Welcome

This evening is the culmination of many years of work individually and together as well as the beginning of an exciting new enterprise borne of a common vision and passion. Good&Sharp is not only a new brand but also a brand new business venture that we have invited you here to witness and celebrate with us. We have worked together since 2011 and were married in 2012. Here in 2020, we are happy to welcome you to this night of celebration and unveiling.

JEREMY KURN, Musical Director/Keyboard: Raised in a disciplined classical world, Jeremy Kurn became a lifelong student of composition, improvisation, jazz, classical and musical theater. He took an unconventional journey to find authentic musical inspiration sourced by years of travel,
spiritual practices, experimental music, mountain climbing, and martial arts. Jeremy now works as a professional composer, arranger, producer, and music.

Jeannine Goode-Allen and David Sharp, Co-creators and performers: We are teachers, writers, composers, singers, and tap dancers. Our mission is to help you discover and manifest your creative dreams so you can have POWER and JOY for life and help heal this hurting world!

The Rembrandt Yard Team

RYAN SPENCER, Trumpet: Dr. Ryan Spencer is a versatile trumpet performer and educator. Hailing from Georgia, he has spent the last 16 years playing in bands, orchestras, and ensembles in Denver and along the Front Range. He is a member of the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, Colorado Brass, and Denver Brass. Ryan maintains a private lesson studio for trumpet and music theory in addition to his composing and arranging projects. A graduate
of DU and CU-Boulder (twice), he is equally at home in classical, jazz, and commercial music settings. When not trumpeting or teaching, Ryan enjoys hiking, snowboarding, and training his poodle.

MATT BURCHARD, Saxophone: Matt Burchard is a woodwind player and educator based in Denver, CO. He received a BM in Music Performance from the University of Denver, and a MM in Jazz Performance from the University of Miami. In 2015, Matt was named one of KUVO's "30 under 30" jazz musicians in Denver. He has performed in pit orchestras at BDT Stage, the PACE Center, and the Arvada Center. Matt plays saxophone and clarinet with Joe Smith and The Spicy Pickles, a swing jazz band that has toured the country. He is honored to be a part of the Good&Sharp program!

MIKE FACEY, Bass Guitar: Mike Facey has been playing bass and guitar for over twenty years, and has been an active teacher for over a decade. As an educator, Mike currently maintains the guitar and bass studios at Casper College in addition to teaching privately. As a performer, he remains an in-demand freelance musician throughout Colorado, having shared the stage with NEA Jazz Master Paquito D’Rivera and Grammy winner John McEuen to name a few. Mike has appeared on hundreds of recordings as a session bassist and guitarist.

GAIL HARRIS, Trombone: As a proud Colorado native, Gail grew up in the North Metro area, clamoring to every stage she could. A tour across Romania with the Downbeat Award-winning UNC Lab Jazz One inspired her continued
passionate trombone performance. Over the last seven years, Gail has enjoyed playing Broadway-style musicals with the band at BDT Stage. Her other recent musical endeavors include performances with local groups Citizen Dan: A Steely Dan Tribute, Mass Hipsteria, the Thornton Community Band, and Groove ‘N Motion. Gail raises her glass to music’s power of memory, love, and togetherness.

ARIC VYHMEISTER, Keyboard: Composer and pianist Aric Vyhmeister completed a Masters in Collaborative Piano at the University of Colorado Boulder under Dr. Margaret McDonald and Dr. Alexandra Nguyen. A former aerospace engineer, Mr. Vyhmeister also helms a community science outreach group called Standley Lake Stargazing that provides year-round educational programming and live astronomy events to the Denver community.

Team Members

CHRIS CARVALHO, Lead Guitar: One listen to Sgt Peppers at age 13 and the world changed completely. It took Chris three more years to get his hands on a guitar, and he hasn’t put it down since. Chris played his first gig at Harvard in a punk band, started writing songs in college, and played in two Boston rock bands, gigging all over New England and as far away as London. Since moving to Colorado, he has played in bands with a variety of styles, from ska and reggae to blues and soul, sometimes on guitar, sometimes on bass, always searching for the perfect tone. He recently released an album of original songs with his band, Misadventure, and occasionally can be seen sitting in with the George Nelson Band.

DAVID LABAT, Drums, and Percussion: David Labat and David Sharp have known each other since 1985, when they performed together in San Francisco. David Labat has played with leading bands and groups for decades. He comes to us from Long Beach, CA by way of Bay St. Louis, MS.

LISA MARES – Maresmedia - Progressive video communications: Lisa Mares, President and Producer & Director of Mares Productions/maresmedia, thinks she has the best job on the planet. She describes herself as a passionate storyteller who has been serving clients with video communication needs for over 25 years. Lisa is committed to designing persuasive films that help clients 'sell, tell, educate, motivate, and celebrate.’ She
creatively blends her background in social work with her love of people and art. She has created original broadcast, internet, and social media video content for most industries. She co-founded Mares Productions with her husband Henry in 1994, and together they have directed and produced a thousand+ creative video projects. She supports education and co-founded the Colorado Professional Videographers Association in 2000, and has offered informational video workshops and presentations. When she isn’t producing videos and digital content, she enjoys spending time with her husband, 3 boys, dogs, volunteering for special causes, hiking, trying different coffee shops, and visiting family in MI.

HENRY MARES – Maresmedia - Progressive video communications: Passionate about his clients, and communicating their stories, Henry Mares has been designing award-winning films for 25 years. He and his business partner, Lisa Mares, started Mares Productions in 1994. He has a Communications degree in TV/Broadcasting and has filmed thousands of events and commercial
projects over the years. He puts his heart, soul, and skills into building relationships where clients feel more like family than just another project. He and the company have received many accolades, including 2 international, 2 national, and 7 Icon Awards for video. Henry founded the
Colorado Professional Videographers Association in 2000. He has served on judges panels for the WEVA association and also for local STEM high school programs. He has been a featured speaker and presenter for both business and educational organizations. Henry is a Colorado native and enjoys fishing, hiking, sports, and spending time with his family.

MARLENE CARVAHLO: Marlene Carvalho has been holding voices and souls since 1995. She is the founder and master teacher of Vocal Journeys, a presence-based approach to making a relationship with the voice. Understanding that being seen, heard, witnessed, and valued are at the foundation of claiming who you are, Marlene creates a safe, meaningful context to explore voice where risk and vulnerability are possible. She has
performed with the Boulder-based George Nelson Band and modern Latin band Chicha. Marlene’s emerging programs focus on individual, family and cultural healing, restorative communication, and empowering the voice for
new frontiers in relationship, life, and performance.

JACK UTRATA, Social Media Director / Web Designer: 

Jack is a Manhattan-based actor, filmmaker, digital marketer, and owner of Utrata By Design Productions. Jack is so thankful to be included in this incredible evening and wishes both Jeannine and David a beautiful beginning. Jack works with both Jeannine and David to bring their special "magic" to the public via social media for David Preston Sharp (@drdavidpsharp), Doctor of the Soul (@doctor_ofthesoul) and now Good&Sharp (@goodandsharpSTU). REMBRANDT YARD: Rembrandt Yard Art Gallery & Event Center was established in 2004 and has been hosting events for over 10 years. The gallery is located in the heart of downtown Boulder just steps away from the Pearl Street Mall. Rembrandt Yard’s art program focuses on bringing Colorado artists and international pieces together for one beautiful exhibit.
