What Dreams Have You Already Manifested?

3 min read

We often focus on the dreams we haven't manifested yet.

The book we haven't written. The place we haven't traveled to. The creative work we've been meaning to begin. The relationship we'd love to experience. The freedom, purpose, or adventure we imagine waiting somewhere ahead.

Our longings for these dreams can call us forward and awaken possibilities we might otherwise overlook.

But sometimes, in our excitement about the future, we forget to acknowledge and appreciate that some of the things we are living today were once dreams.

Think back for a moment to a younger version of yourself.

What did that person hope life would become? What dreams did you have?

Perhaps you dreamed of having a family, finding meaningful work, owning a home, traveling, creating something of your own, building deep friendships, or simply having a life that felt safe and fulfilling.

Maybe some of those dreams came true so gradually that you hardly noticed. What once seemed extraordinary eventually became your everyday life.

The home you once imagined. The people you once hoped would be in your life. The work you once wished you could do. The place you wanted to visit. The freedom you worked toward. The ability to make choices you couldn't make when you were younger.

We can become so accustomed to what we have that we stop recognizing it as something we once longed for.

This is one of the quiet gifts of looking back.

We begin to see the harvest of our lives. Those dreams we’ve already manifested in our lives. How we’ve grown and transformed as a human being through the years and the gifts we’ve gathered on the journey.

Wisdom. Relationships. Resilience. Creativity. Laughter. Knowledge. Love. Even the difficult experiences that changed us in ways we didn't anticipate.

Today, we invite you to imagine walking through your life as though you’re walking through a garden at the time of harvest.

You’re not worrying about what hasn’t grown in your garden. You notice what’s already there.

Some things may be abundant. Other things may have grown differently than you expected. Some plants may have withered or been removed. Perhaps something you carefully tended never flowered at all.

Yet, there’s still a harvest.

Consider your life in this same light.

You don't need to pretend that everything turned out as planned. You’re simply grateful for what has grown and become manifest, even if it didn’t go exactly as you had hoped or planned.

There’s something powerful about recognizing that the person you are today is living a life your younger self may have hoped for.

If you’re inspired, set aside a little quiet time with a piece of paper, your journal, some old magazines, or even a collection of photographs. Create an artistic rendering entitled, Dreams I Once Had.

First, begin remembering. Draw or write a timeline. Make a collage from old magazines that represent parts of your life or use photographs you have. Sketch symbols or use colors to show the different seasons in your life.

Don't worry about the end product. Just make it personal.

Maybe include that place that finally felt like home. Or that work that made a difference in the world.

Perhaps you wanted to travel or move to a new location, and you did. Add that. Or you had a creative idea you were excited about and you brought it to life.

Maybe you wanted to become a type of person in life – confident, compassionate, empowered. And you now see how that arose on your journey.

Create a rendering of the dreams that you remember. Then, beside them, write what exists in your life today that connects to each one.

You may be surprised!

Sit quietly with what you've created for a few minutes and notice what happens when you look at your life through this lens.

Perhaps you feel surprised or grateful. Maybe you feel amazed or joyful.

When we take a moment to appreciate the life we’ve lived, we feel a sense of abundance, opening the door to even more opportunities.

There may be another dream waiting. But before you rush toward what’s next, take a moment to gather the harvest of your life’s journey so far. It’s worth celebrating.
